In the Get Info dialog box that opens next, use the dropdown menu of applications under Open With to select Preview. Go to Edit. Then Preferences. Go to General Tab. Click view on the top of the file explorer. Select preview pane option and see if it helps. The View tab is shown.

In the Panes section, click the Preview Pane button. The Preview pane is added to the right side of the File Explorer window.

Right-click on an image file and you should now see an Image Preview command in the popup menu. Select File Explorer Options from the menu. After File Explorer Options window opens, go to View tab and make sure that Always show icons, never thumbnails option is unchecked.
